BIO

                                 Personal Summery

​

My name is Lonwabo Mnyungula and my stage name is Loendi.  I am 24 years of age and I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I have been dancing for 9 years training to master the dance style Popping. I am very versatile in my dancing because I can do other dance styles such as  Krump, Break dance, Contemporary, and New School. I am young energetic individual who has a very strong passion for dancing and I am also wanting to learn and take in what others can teach me as a dancer because I believe that is part of growth. .

  Duties

​

  • Training pupils to prepare them for competitions

  • Planning and delivering dance lessons.

  • Choreographing full routines to a high standard for beginners right through to advanced students.

  • Delivering enjoyable, structured and well-planned dance activities.

  • Explaining and demonstrating dance techniques and methods.

  • Teaching private lessons(one on one)

  • Choreographing and directing dance performances.

  • Controlling groups of pupils and when required disciplining them.

  • Teaching dance as a form of recreation.

  • Teach beginners of all ages

  • Monitoring a pupils progress.

  • Performing numerous dance routines throughout the day

  • Let the pupils showcase what they have learnt for the day

  • Building relationships with pupils.

  • Using movements, gestures and body language to portray dance routines.

  • Ability to inspire passionate dancers

  • Confident teaching large groups  of children in a classroom

  Dance companies and Choreographers I have worked with

 

  I have danced with well-known dance companies such as Afrika Ablaze, Urban Degree, Jazz Art Dance Academy, Ivy Meyer, Jammin  Studios, Heal The Hood, Dance For All, Renovatio. Through these dance companies I have learned and grew as a dancer, without their  guidance and knowledge I   would have not been where i am today.

  I have also worked with South Africa’s best Choreographers such as:

 

  • Daphne Jubber(Founder of Daphne Jubber studios)

  • Rudi smit( Founder of Untamed and Primitive Crew)

  • Emile Jansen(Founder of Black Noise and Heal The Hood, also the judge on the TV show Step Up or Step Out)

  • Terry Sauls( Former RFK member) 

  • Somizi Mhlongo( Actor and dance choreographer also known on the movie sarafina)

  • Glenda Jones( Founder of Afrika Ablaze)

 

  Ive also worked with international artist such as famous singer and actress Cassie Ventura and well known director Bille Woodruff.

  Achievements                                    

​

  • (April 2016)  I competed at the Hip Hop Challenge competition in KwaZulu-Natal and came 2nd place for Popping

  • (November – October 2015)  I got the opportunity to be a dance extra for the Beach scene on the Honey 3 movie that starred famous singer and actress Cassie Ventura, well known movie director Bille Woodruff, actor Kenny Wormald, actor Dena Kaplan, actor Sibongile Mlambomo, actor Clayton Everton, actor Bobby Lockwood, actor Peter Butler, and actor Adrian Galley. 

  • (Sepetember-August 2015)  I represented my country at the IDO World HipHop, Electric Boogie and and Break dance Championship 2015  Remini, Italy. Out of 96 competitors from around the world  I placed 10th place in my respected category Electric-Boogie WTC.

  • (June 2015) I took first place for Electric-Boogie category  Cape Town Nation Qualifiers. Qualifying for IDO(International Dance Organization) 2015 italy.

  • (April 2015) Placed Top 4  at the Dance to San Diego Qualifiers in Johannesburg. Qualifying runner up for Hip Hop International 2015. 

  • (June 2014) took 2nd place in Electric-Boogie Solo at the Cape Town National Qualifiers. Winning a Silver Medal and qualifying for the World Hip Hop Championships in Germany

  • (March 2014) I took 5th place in Electric-Boogie Solo at the Battle Of The Giants Competition in Sun city. Winning a bronze Medal

  • (March 2014) me and my duo partner Blake Williams took 1st place in Electric-Boogie duo at the Battle of the Giants Competition in Sun city. Winning a Gold Medal and qualifying for World Hip Hop Championships in Germany

  • (October 2013)  I was one out 30 dancers who was chosen to take part in the production called “Break” in association with Heal The Hood, Jazz Art, and Arts cape

  • (May 2012) I was involved in the tv show Step Up or Step not only making it to the Top 10 of the competition with my crew Atomic Step but being the only crew that represented Cape Town

  • (January 2011) I was a full-time dance instructor at Battswood Primary School and in 2012 I was a part-time dance instructor. I was a Hip Hop dance teacher and taught Hip Hop as an extra mural subject

  • (October 2010) I got a certificate for most recognition dancer for contemporary in my matric year at Wynberg Secondary High school

  • (August 2010) I was chosen to an opening act  for wit South Africans  leading contemporary company Jazz Art for the my school festival

  • (July 2009) I came Top 4 at the African Hip Hop Indaba competition for Popping Solo

  • (March 2008) I took 2nd place at the African Hip Hop Indaba for Popping Solo

  • (July 2007) I took 2nd place in Hip Hop  Solo Battles at Grand West, entering the comp with my former dance company Urban Degree(SADTA Competition
